The House

A botanical fragrance house, built in stone and light.

A quiet, provenance-led house built around rare aromatic materials, ritual and place.

A long travertine gallery of square sandstone piers, sunlight falling between them in hard bands.

The name

thūs, thūris

THURIS takes its name from the Latin for incense — frankincense. The house begins with the material at the centre of its name.

Each essence is selected for where it comes from and how it carries itself: its depth, its brightness, its persistence in a room. Nothing is added to make it louder.

Architectural rather than decorative.

Material

The house begins with the material at the centre of its name, and lets each one carry itself.

Origin

Every essence is named by species and country of origin, stated plainly.

Object

The bottle is made to be kept: heavy glass, a solid metal cap, nothing exposed.

Restraint

Fewer materials. Each one considered. Nothing is added to make it louder.

A THURIS bottle on a travertine tray beside a pale stone and dark linen, in hard window light.

The first release

Three materials begin the House.

Frankincense, Neroli and Rose Geranium — the Founding Collection.
